What Is Acne? What Are The Different Types Of Acne? Part 1

www.lifefxusa.com www.6minutefacelift.info www.6minutefacelift.info Acne (acne vulgaris, common acne) is not just a problem for teenagers; it can affect people from ages 10 through 40. It is not unusual for women, in particular, to develop acne in their mid- to late-20s, even if they have not had breakouts in years (or ever). On the positive side, those few individuals who have acne into their 40s may well grow out of it. Acne can appear on the skin as any of the following • congested pores (“comedones”), • whiteheads, • blackheads, • pimples (“zits”), • pustules, or • cysts (deep pimples, boils). The pus in pustules and cysts is sterile and does not actually contain infectious bacteria. These blemishes occur wherever there are many oil (sebaceous) glands, mainly on the face, chest, and back. You can do a lot to treat your acne using products available at a drugstore or cosmetic counter that do not require a prescription. However, for tougher cases of acne, you should consult a physician for treatment options. What causes acne? No one factor causes acne. Acne happens when oil (sebaceous) glands come to life around puberty, stimulated by male hormones from the adrenal glands of both boys and girls. Sebum (oil) is a natural substance which lubricates and protects the skin, and under certain circumstances, cells that are close to the surface block the openings of sebaceous glands and cause a buildup of oil underneath. www.6minutefacelift.info www.lifefxusa.com www

Recognizing the Different Face Acne Scars

Friday, June 18th, 2010

The only thing worse about having face acne is knowing that it is going to leave some type of scars. These scars are caused when the skin tissue has been damaged. When the tissue is damaged our bodies will produce collagen to send to the damaged area. Sometimes it will send too much of the collagen – which will build into a fibrous mass that will cause an uneven shape on our face. There are different types of face acne scars and each can be identified:Ice Pick ScarsThis type of scar can either be deep or shallow and hard or soft. It got this name because its looks like a common wound that someone will receive from an ice pick. If you try to stretch the skin you will notice little to no changes.Depressed Fibrotic ScarsDepressed fibrotic scars are small to tiny craters that will form on the face. The size of this type of scar differs depending on how much tissue on the face has been lost. Most people will have these scars on the cheeks.

Atrophic Macule ScarsThese scars can be seen on the face as well as other parts of the body that have been infected by acne. When they are on the face they tend to be very small. These scars are softer than most other face acne scars and will have a base that is wrinkled. You will notice them by the violet to bluish color that they have on someone’s white skin. This color is caused by the blood vessels beneath it.Deep and Superficial Soft ScarsDeep and superficial soft scars can also vary in their sizes. The edges of these scars are sloped to connect with the normal skin that has been untouched.

Different Type of Treatment Available for Acne Scar Removal

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Acne is a common problem that is faced by many people in their teen years and the worst part of this acne is that it leaves scars that completely destroy the beauty and charm of the face. The impact of acne is so severe that it can destroy the most beautiful face also. It depends on the individual how they take it. Some people take it very seriously and it disturbs their mental state of mind and there are people who don’t take this as a serious problem and they just overlook it. For those who find it a disturbing factor and want the scars to be removed, have good news for them. Now-a-days there are various treatment available for the removal of scars. There are many dermatologists who perform surgery and suggest other effective treatment for the removal of the acne scars. Acne scars range from minor scaring to serious scars that can result in disfiguring the face. Even the minimal acne scar can devastate one’s self confidence and disturb one emotional state. Good thing about acne is that which was earlier not treatable can be easily treated now. There are various types of treatment available for the acne scar removal that is decided as per the individual problem and type of treatment, which one want to undergo. Microdermabrasion is a treatment for acne scar in which the top most layers of skin is removed in order to reveal the smooth layer beneath the skin. In some cases it removes all the sign of acne scars. This treatment can be carried out by the person who does not have lot of money to spend on the treatment. The major benefit of microdermabrasion is that it actually works to stimulate the body to produce new healthy skin cells and natural collagen. With this the skin is able to repair its damage and leads to healthy glow. However this treatment is best suited for relatively mild cases of acne scar. Collagen injections are another popular way of treating acne scar removal. This treatment is slight expensive than microdermabrasion and in this treatment collagen is injected into the scars in order to fill in the area leaving the texture of the face skin much smoother. This injection is slight painful but the pain is limited to the injection site and the pain is there for relatively short time. The recovery time with the collagen injection is relatively short. Chemical peels are an excellent choice for various people as it can be adjusted as per one specific need of people facing varying severities of acne scars. It reaches down to the root of the problem rather than glossing over the problem. The most aggressive treatment of acne scar is laser resurfacing that goes deep beneath the surface of the skin. Greater risk is involved with this treatment as deeper results are anticipated and it also involved lengthier recovery time. Hence this treatment is considered as the last option and is reserved for the most severe case of acne scarring.

Should I start taking a different acne medication?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

I’ve been taking minocycline for acne for over a year. I’ve never had horrendous skin, but I get at least one cystic pimple a week along with a few everywhere else. I also have two topical medications that I use. I take impeccable and consistent care of my skin, yet my skin is never fully clear. Is this the best my skin is going to get with minocycline or should I be seeing better results than this?

is it bad for your skin if you use two different acne treatment creams?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

I used ProActiv for a while but my dermatologist prescribed me a different acne washing cream. But since I still have a lot of ProActiv left over, I’ve been using ProActiv to wash my face in the morning and the dermatologist’s one to wash my face at night. Is that damaging for my skin? Will it only make acne worse?
