How to Treat Facial Redness and Red Blotches [DermTV.com Epi #50]

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Via www.dermtv.com – Facial redness and red facial blotches (eg, broken capillaries) are a common skincare issue. While many products claim to remove them, there is only one real cure. Dr. Schultz will explain why available products aren’t suitable and what procedure is. Transcript People with red blotches or broken blood vessels on their face are frustrated by their inability to find effective skin care products to help them with their problem. Here are the treatment choices: First and easiest is make-up. Green tinted foundation most effectively helps hide the red because green is opposite red in the color wheel (ie, they neutralize each other). Second are caffeine-containing products that are advertised to help reduce the size of blood vessels. If you constrict the blood vessels you will squeeze some blood out and there will be less red in the skin. The reality, though, is caffeine containing products usually work better to relieve the signs of Rosacea because of their anti-inflammatory powers than they do to really get the red out of your skin. Next are topical cortisone products which constrict the blood vessels very well and get the red out very effectively. However, the problem is you can not use them on an on-going basis. If you use them for too long after they have temporarily helped the redness, they will actually break the capillaries, cause more redness and thin the skin. So this isn’t an option. Lastly and the only thing that really works is laser treatments

Baking Soda Facial Mask Tuturial

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Baking Soda Mask to Fight Acne This is so easy to make and can work wonders if your skin likes it. (Remember, not every cause of acne is the same, so you need to try different remedies and masks until you find the ones that work for you.) All you need are two ingredients. Baking Soda (NOT baking powder) and water. Mix a little together in your hands after washing your face with a mild cleanser and apply gently to your skin. Once you’ve coated your face with the baking soda and water mix, let it sit while you do other things around the house, or relax and read a book. Rinse the baking soda film off your face and feel how soft and clear it feels. If your skin enjoys this recipe, and your acne improves, then you may try it several times a week to help clear your acne. Comment Rate Subscribe

Facial Plastic Surgery before and after with Dr. Paul Nassif

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

www.spaldingplasticsurgery.com, (310)-275-2467 There are two main types of nasal plastic surgery rhinoplasty surgery and septoplasty surgery. The first, rhinoplasty is a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure to change the shape and contour of the patient’s nose. The second, septoplasty, is a reconstructive procedure designed to improve nasal function from the inside. Here at FaceForum, we are concerned primarily with the former. Small incisions are created behind the hairline, measuring less than 2-cm in length. These incisions hide quite nicely in the hairline. This minimally invasive technique of endoscopic brow lift visualization is performed using a fiber optic endoscope. Visualization is in an exact plane beneath the scalp and subcutaneous tissue. Tissue is released and repositioned to appear more youthful. The hairline is slightly raised. The eyebrows and redundant eyelid skin are also repositioned upward. The forehead glabellar muscles, which cause the facial expressions of worry, concern, and fatigue are trimmed. A muscle sectioning procedure is performed in the central portion of the forehead to these muscles. Following the healing process, the muscles will not contract as much and the sense of worry and fatigue will be resolved. Eyelid surgery (technically called blepharoplasty) is a procedure to remove fat–usually along with excess skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes
